Startup Grind is the world’s largest startup community of over 3.5 million individuals worldwide. Its mission is to provide education and opportunities to startups everywhere, thus enabling them to build, grow, and scale their companies through its local events, flagship conferences, startup membership, partner membership, student and investor programs, and online content.

Startup Grind was founded in 2010 when Derek Andersen got some friends and fellow entrepreneurs together to crack the problem that many founders face: the challenges of launching a company. What became clear was that these obstacles were extensive and stretched far beyond their group.

Their gatherings soon spurred a local startup movement that attracted founders and experts from every industry, all coming together to share their advice and inspirations for early entrepreneurs. Eventually, vibrant Startup Grind communities (‘Chapters’) began developing in Los Angeles, Tel Aviv, London, New York, Beijing, and many other places.

Shahar Matorin is the person behind Startup Grind Israel’s activity. Supported by a team of volunteers, he is driven to make the Israeli startup ecosystem even more attractive and more connected to people and hubs across the globe. "For us," he says, "leading a community centered around social values and longterm goals enables us to represent the country and the local ecosystem impartially.”

As Startup Grind Israel is vertical and stage agnostic, it is active in many ways, offering opportunities to its members and their companies. “It's not rare that our members raise funds and sell companies after getting knowledge and first-hand connections from the Startup Grind local and global community," says Shahar. "I can pretty much sum it up by saying that our community proves that entrepreneurs are, in fact, stronger together.”
